YEREVAN, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS: About 12 thousand pupils of the provinces of Gegharkunik and Tavush get support within the framework of “School Food” program. The program is implemented by UN World Food Program collaboratively with the Armenian Ministry of Science and Education.
Head of the Out-educational Upbringing Department of the Armenian Ministry of Education and Science Andranik Hovhannisyan told Armenpress that 40 schools from Tavush province and 107 schools from Gegharkunik province are involved in the province. Food is provided to schools within the framework of the program intended for 1-4th graders on place.
“School Food” program will be implemented till 2013. It is intended for 6 provinces. According to Mr. Hovhannisyan, there is some lack of food conditioned by the crisis, but all the possible means are undertaken to display support to schools of other provinces as well.
On the whole it is intended that within the framework of the program about 50 thousand children will get support in 6 provinces – Gegharkunik, Tavush, Lori, Shirak, Aragatsotn and Armavir.
Mr. Hovhannisyan noted that it is intended to display support to the pre-school institutions of the mentioned provinces, which work in schools.
