Book exhibitions in provinces

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 18, ARMENPRESS: Book exhibitions will be conducted in a number of provinces of the republic.

Chairman of the National Association of Publishers Mkrtich Karapetyan told Armenpress that there is already an agreement with the provinces of Shirak, Ararat and Armavir. Besides book exhibitions, numerous events are intended in provinces. Mr. Karapetyan noted that they want to create a holiday of book in provinces. “Various events dedicated to book are organized in the capital, and provinces should join it as well. The activation of the activity of province libraries is especially important,” the chairman said.

Meetings with representatives of libraries will be conducted in the provinces of Shirak, Ararat and Armavir, the best publications of the recent years will be presented, as well as donations will be registered. According to Mr. Karapetyan, it is very important to involve school libraries, for the latter face the issue of replenishment.

During book fair-expos in provinces the books will be solved by a lower price than the market cost, in order the local residents and libraries have the opportunity of obtaining them. “We have already an experience of organizing such events in provinces. Last year we held a number of events in Kotayk, which received a big response. The results are quite positive. The big interest of local residents was unexpected for us,” Mr. Karapetyan.

Book exhibitions have been organized in Hrazdan, Yeghvard, Nor Hachn, Abovyan and Charentsavan.1500-2000 unit books are presented at every expo, donations are registered as well.
