GYUMRI, JANUARY 14, ARMENPRESS: The number one issue of the social sphere in Shirak province is unemployment. According to the data of 2010, 10 106 job-seeking citizens are registered in territorial employment centers of the province, the 9 515 of them - with the status of unemployed. Though during the last months territorial employment centers succeeded to provide 623 citizens with job, the unemployment in the province makes 12, 2%.
The 18% of the population in Gyumri is unemployed. One thousand 290 citizens get currently unemployment allowance in the province. “Public Work for Payment” program has partially contributed to solution of the issue, within the framework of which 71 programs have been implemented in 39 communities of the province and 1040 job seekers have been provided with temporary work.
Head of the Healthcare and Social Insurance Department of the governor office Rafik Potinyan told Armenpress that works are carried out in the direction of solution of the employment issue of the disabled people. The 16 of the 287 disabled people registered in territorial employment centers of the province have been involved in “Public Work for Payment” program, and the 6 have passed professional education.
