Goris Medical Center opens with participation of RA President Serzh Sargsyan

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS: Goris Medical Center of Syunik province ceremonially opened today with participation of RA President Serzh Sargsyan. The President, accompanied by Healthcare Minister Harutyun Kushkyan, walked around in the center, got acquainted with its conditions. Harutyun Kushkyan noted in an interview with journalists that the center has opened according to RA President’s program on proportionate development of provinces.

“The center has been completely reequipped with modern medical technologies. It has a big significance for Syunik region. Numerous medical centers will be constructed and repaired in the republic during 2011-2012 as well,” the Minister said. The center has been built within the framework of the World Bank’s loan program on “Updating of the Healthcare System”.

Coordinator of the Healthcare Program of the WB Armenia office Susanna Hayrapetyan said that it is a great honor for them to make contribution to development of healthcare sphere. “We will continue to extend additional finances for development of healthcare centers,” she said.

According to Mrs. Hayrapetyan, the Bank’s Council of Executive Directors confirmed yesterday a loan of 25 million Dollars for additional funding of the second round of “Updating of Healthcare System of Armenia” program. The loan is provided with 25 year expiration term, including with privileged conditions of 10 years. The overall investments in “Goris Medical Center” CJSC make almost 3 million USD.
