YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS: Yerevan-Garni-Geghard road does not face the issue of garbage cleaning any more, as periodical and coordinated work is being carried out in that direction, head of the Tourism and Territorial Economic Development Department of the Armenian Economy Ministry Mekhak Apresyan told Armenpress, adding that a garbage cleaning engineering has been bought by state means and provided to the community, and the issue of garbage cans is regulated by local self-governing bodies.
“Garni-Geghard rout has changed a lot: there is quite a big progress,” Mr. Apresyan said. According to him, the cleanness is conditioned by two factors – first, the site is cleaned more frequently and second, corresponding way of thinking is developing among people.
Twenty-nine million AMD from the state budged was intended for the annual repair of Yerevan-Garni-Geghard route from the very beginning, but later it was reduced, reaching 15,5 million AMD.
The Armenian government adopted a decision in 2008 on issues connected with Garni-Geghard tourism route, according to which the garbage cleaning issue of Yerevan-Garni-Geghard road must be solved, and traffic lights must be placed in Garni community, in the highway and in the crossings leading to the temple of Garni.
