Three thousand tigers registered in the world

SAINT PETERSBURG, NOVEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS: Though the Year of Tiger is coming to an end, the issue of saving tigers from annihilation keeps being in the center of attention of international community.

Armenpress’ correspondent reports from Saint Petersburg that during the international forum dedicated to issues of tigers, participants referred to the issue of merciless fighting against tiger hunting. Heads and representatives of 13 countries participated in the forum.

According to specialists, the number of those royal animals is decreasing in the world year by year. As a result of rapacious actions of people, these animals have appeared on the verge of annihilation. During the last 100 years their number has decreased 22 times: today there are only 3 thousand tigers in the world.

Head of the Russian government Vladimir Putin referred in his speech to fighting against hunting of tigers, spoke of the government’s decisions on creating conditions for preservation and growth of tigers.

The participants of the forum, attaching importance to the discussed issues, came to the conclusion that endangering the animal and plant world, humanity weakens its basis of loving, that the preservation of natural integrity of the world is an all-human issue and it must be in the center of attention of everybody.
