Book fund of Ararat province libraries is 96 thousand 882 items

ARTASHAT, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS: Ninety-six libraries work today in the province of Ararat, 86 of which – rural, 6 – urban, two – children, one – province and one - territorial central. The number of the librarians is 152.

Yura Petrsoyan, director of Ararat province library after Ohan Chubaryan, told Armenpress that by last month’s results the book fund of the province libraries is 96 thousand 882. Two thousand 637 readers made use of library collections in the last 9 months.

In the 9 months of this year the library collections have been replenished with 216 items. Mr. Petrosyan noted that there are libraries in 96 communities of the province out of the 97 ones, but not all of them work by a normal working routine. There are communities, which have provided place to libraries in the building of the community office, ensuring their preservation.

Mr. Petrosyan said that today the province library comes forth as a methodical-information center. An internet center works here, where “Irtec”, “Expo”, “Alef”, “Arev” programs have been already introduced. The director noted with pity that it is not possible to introduce these programs in the other library of the province because of absence of computers.
