YEREVAN, AUGUST 27, ARMENPRESS: The Historical-Cultural Heritage Scientific-Research Center subordinated to the Armenian Culture Ministry has registered noteworthy results after the wide-scale researches carried out in Lori Berd village. Director of the center Hakob Simonyan told Armenpress that the site dates back to the 10-17th centuries. As a result of the excavations, the walls of 24 m height and 20 m width have opened.
Large-scale researches have been carried out and many valuable items have been found.
“This is a unique item, a head of finally erected statue,” the director said. Mr. Simonyan said that quite high-quality golden, glass subjects of splendor, cross-stones, as well as protocols of the 13th and 14th centuries have been found. “These researches present the medieval culture, the capital of Kyurikyans – a branch of Bahratuni wealth, has been situated here,” the director said.
The site is 3 km from Stepanavan town and the historical name of the latter is Lore.
