Gegharkunik-Omsk Memorandum of commercial-economic and cultural cooperation signed

GAVAR, JULY 26, ARMENPRESS: On the initiative of the Armenian community of Russian province of Omsk and at the invitation of Omsk Governor L. Polezhaev the delegation of Gegharkunik province was in Omsk July 23-25, headed by Governor Nver Poghosyan. Deputy Governor of Gegharkunik Artush Ghukasyan, Gegharkunik Police Chief Samvel Shahinyan and head of the Agriculture and Nature Protection Department of Gegharkunik Governor Office Vanik Hovhannisyan comprised the delegation.

Deputy Governor of Ghegharkunik Artush Ghukasyan told a correspondent of Armenpress that the delegation of Ghegharkunik province received Omsk Governor L. Polezhaev. The meeting passed on a high level and in a friendly and warm atmosphere. The heads of the Armenian and Russian administrative units signed a memorandum of commercial-economic and cultural cooperation, on the basis of which a working team comprised of the representatives of the two parties has been formed, which must carry out the preliminary works of the ratification of the cooperation document. The direction of the cooperation will depend on the study and work of this team.

The members of our delegation also met with the local community, which greatly delighted our compatriots. As they confessed it is the first high level visit of Armenian officials to Omsk. During the meeting Omsk governor noted that the 50 thousand Armenians living in their province play a great role in development of Omsk.

The members of the province delegation visited the Omsk Agricultural Academy’s experimental station for production of agricultural engineering, got acquainted with the innovative achievements.

The mutual visit of Omsk delegation to Gegharkunik will take place either at the end of this September or at the beginning of October.
