YEREVAN, JUNE 25, ARMENPRESS: A multi-apartment social house for refugees opened today in Kasakh community of Kotayk province on the occasion of the International Day of Refugees.
Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan highly assessed the implemented work attaching importance to the issue of ensuring permanent asylum to refugee families.
He also pointed out the necessity of the support of international donor organizations in solving the dwelling issues of refugees and expressed hope that they will have active participation in the forum to be organized in autumn in Yerevan for that purpose.
Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia Bushra Halepota expressed gratification on the implemented work hoping that suchlike initiatives will be of continuous nature.
The works on establishing a social house by the funding of the Japan government started in 2009 autumn, for purpose of which the sub-building of the former factory of the administrative territory of the community was reconstructed. The 18 out of the 20 apartments of the social house will be extended to the refugee families dwelling in Kasakh community and in neighboring settlements, and the two – to poor families of Kasakh.
Head of the State Migration Service of the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration Gagik Yeganyan, Kotayk Governor Kovalenko Shahgaldyan, diplomats accredited in Armenia and representatives of international organizations were present at the opening ceremony of the social house.
