KAPAN, JUNE 21, ARMENPRESS: Regular elections of mayor were conducted June 20 in Goris. According to the initial information, the current mayor, member of the Republican Party Nelson Voskanyan has been reelected, gathering 5 264 votes. The other candidate – non-party, director of “Vararakn” LLC Avetik Budaghyan, has gathered 3 138 votes, and 157 voting papers have been considered invalid. An official from Central Electoral Commission N 37 told Armenpress that the 54 % of the constituency have partook in the voting.
Chairman of the Armenian Central Electoral Commission Garegin Azaryan, member of the Central Electoral Commission Hamlet Abrahamyam and head of the judicial department of the commission Nune Hovhannisyan followed the process of the elections in Goris. The same day local self-governing elections were conducted in three communities of the province – Achanan, Okhtar and Ishkhanasar.
According to the initial data of central electoral commissions N 37 and N 38, member of the Republican Party, current community head Vache Avetisyan has been elected head of the community in Achanan, and member of the ARF current community head Vagharshak Hambardzumyan – in Okhtar. A council of elders comprised of 5 members has been elected in Ishkhanasar.
