YEREVAN, MAY 31, ARMENPRESS: May 30, “Armavia” Airline Company opened new – Yerevan-Arkhangelsk-Yerevan flight, among the first passengers of which were Armenian Ambassador to Russia Oleg Yesayan, Chairman of “Armavia” Airline Company Michael Baghdasarov and Governor of Vayots Dzor Vardges Matevosyan.
M. Baghdasarov said that the opening of this flight is not by chance. “The people of the north like traveling to the south and especially in summer. There is a warm sun in Armenia and we find that the flight can be interesting from the viewpoint of tourism as well. Besides that, “Zvartnots” airport of Yerevan today links the towns of the Europe and other continents, so from that viewpoint, too, the opening of the flight will be of great significance for the population of Arkhangelsk,” the chairman of “Armavia” said adding that for some period of time the Yerevan-Arkhangelsk-Yerevan flight will be implemented once a week, and in future that number will grow.
Armenian Ambassador to Russia O. Yesayan said that the development of the air communication between Armenia and Russia is of great importance. “By this flight we not only open a new direction, but also lay a basis for development of economic and cultural cooperation.
Governor of Arkhangelsk province Ilia Mikhalchuk said he is of the opinion that the Yerevan-Arkhangelsk-Yerevan flight will give a new impetus to development of the bilateral cooperation. “Recently Arkhangelsk airport has become international, and we are very happy that the Armenian airline company will implement flights here as well. It will greatly contribute to development of Arkhangelsk airport and will help that international airline companies, too, start implementing flights to Arkhangelsk,” I. Mikhalchuk said.
