28 Anti-Hail Stations to be Placed in Ararat Province

YEREVAN, MAY 25, ARMENPRESS: The works on placing 28 anti-hail stations have started in the vulnerable communities of Ararat province within the frameworks of the 240 million Drams extended by the Armenian state budget and Japan “Partnership Fund”.

Gagik Ghalumyan, executive director of “Support to Agriculture” fund of the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture, told Armenpress that the works, which are implemented by “Post Lex Consulting” company, will be accomplished at the end of July.

According to G. Ghalumyan, after the operation of the stations it will be possible in the mentioned provinces to decrease the harvest loss by 50 % annually or by approximately 8 billion Drams. Besides that, thanks to that, an opportunity will be afforded to suspend the harmful influence of the hail-bringing clouds of the West on the lands of the other regions of the republic.

All the mentioned 28 stations will work by “propane-butane” gas, which is for several times cheaper, is secure in regard to explosion, and more efficient in respect to management. One station will protect against the hail a land of 80 hectares.

According to G. Ghalumyan, other 460 million Drams has been extended from the RA state budget for 50 similar structures in the provinces of Armavir and Aragatsotn. Their construction works will start in near future.

Twelve anti-hail stations were placed September 2009 in the lands of the Ararat province communities of Noyakert, Eghegnavan, Ararat, Avshar and Lusarat by the financial means of the Armenian state budget and Japan “Partnership Fund”. The experimentation of the stations have been implemented by “Mevand” state non-profit organization.
