“Management Strengthening of Migration Flows” program in Gegharkunik province

GAVAR, APRIL 29, ARMENPRESS: From 2009 April 1 till 2010 March 30, over 50 citizens have received social, legal and economic consultation in the Migration Information Center of the province of Gegharkunik. Coordinator of the center Ruben Khachikyan told Armenpress that the center operates within the frameworks of the program of “Management Strengthening of Migration Flows in Armenia”.

In the mentioned time period 20 beneficiaries returned to the homeland and 6 potential migrants have been calculated, who have expressed wish to participate in professional trainings, expecting that the program will assist them in future in finding a job in Armenia.

Two-day business trainings have been implemented within the mentioned program with participation of 10 beneficiaries. Five of them have afterward presented their business-program to take part in a granting contest; the assessing commission approved three of them. The mentioned people have received support for implementing hairdressing, computer services and production of food raw materials.

Galust Nanyan, public relations manager of the Armenian branch of “People in Need” organization said that in the mentioned time period within the frameworks of the program works have been also implemented in Getik, Martuni and Ttujur communities of Chambarak region, Gegharkunik province.

Eleven development programs concerning social-economic sphere have been worked out, which have been placed in www.migrant.am website for receiving support from Diaspora and different international organizations. As a result of another business development contest directed toward supporting the residents of these three communities, 3 out of 15 proposals have been selected and financed.

This year within the frameworks of the program of “Management Strengthening of Migration Flows in Armenia” works will also be implemented in the regions of Vardenis, Martuni and Sevan.
