A labor recovery center for professional orientation of disabled people to be established in Gyumri

YEREVAN, APRIL 15, ARMENPRESS: A labor recovery center for professional orientation of disabled people will be established in Gyumri. Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan noted at today’s governmental session that the specific weight of the disabled people of capable-of-working age is high in Gyumri. As of January 1, 2010, 179 thousand 257 disabled people are calculated in the republic, 114 thousand 720 of which are at capable-of-working age, and only the 8-9 % of them is engaged.
Larger number of disabled people is registered in the province of Shirak – 17 thousand 128, 12 thousand 592 of which (73, 5%) are at capable-of-working age. In Gyumri 10 thousand 055 disabled people of capable-of-working age are calculated, including 7 127 (70, 9%), which is conditioned by the disastrous earthquake of 1988.
The main goal of establishment of the center is to promote the increase of competitiveness of disabled people in accordance with the labor market.
