ARTASHAT, FEBRUARY 18, ARMENPRESS: An inner system of main water pipeline and water supply of about 150 km length has been constructed and reconstructed in 2009 in the province of Ararat, funded by the USAID program and Asian Development Bank.
An inner system having a general length of 5240 linear meters and with a cost of 8, 1 million Drams has been constructed in 12 communities of the province, funded by “Arm Water Sewerage” CJSC.
Yeprem Hakobyan, chief specialist of the Urban Development Department’s board of Ararat governor office told Armenpress that the average age of the exploitation of the water system exceeds the 35.
A thousand and 150 catastrophes take place in the province per month, as a result of which the water waste makes about 70 %. A local laboratory has been reconstructed for regulating the productive control over the water quality, as well as replenishment of equipments has been implemented. Currently a bacteriological examination of water is also being carried out.
”Center-Western” territorial branch of “Arm Water Sewerage” company provides drinking water to 57 thousand 038 subscribers of 75 province communities, including 150 thousand 147 residents and 1 156 juridical persons. Four communities receive water from “Yerevan” water pipeline, and the rest 18 – from artesian wells and drift springs. The 56 % of subscribers makes use of water-meters.
Reconstruction of more primary objects, as well as works on placing 5 780 individual water-meters is intended to implement this year in the province towns and 18 communities,. The works will be implemented through the financial support of the Asian Development Bank.
