KAPAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS: The 100 thousandth visitor was welcomed in the American corner of Kapan on February 11 with flowers and presents. That visitor was Meghri Soghomyan, a journalist by profession. The 100 thousandth subscriber was also awarded with a certificate by the US Embassy.
The American corner of Kapan, which is one of the similar four centers operating in the republic, has been founded in 2007. It is a unique library of American style, equipped with contemporary computers, film monitor and other equipments. Responsible authority of the center Garegin Hovhannisyan said that only in 2009 fifty three various events were organized in the center, as well as nine video films telling about the United States of America were shown.
Averagely twenty two people make use of the services of the center per day, and this number is growing year by year. People of different age and specialty have an opportunity of making use of the literature devoted to Americans and of the internet for free, as well as there is a possibility of participating in the periodically organized classes of English language and other classes, which are conducted by the volunteers of the American “Peace Corps”.
