The lowest index of gasification registered in 4 provinces of the republic – Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Aragatsotn and Shirak

GYUMRI, FEBRUARY 9, ARMENPRESS: The 59 % of the 940 communities of the republic are connected to the natural gas pipeline; a similar result has not been registered even in the soviet years. Four provinces have the lowest index of gasification – Syunik (25 %), Vayots Dzor (27 %), Aragatsotn (40 %) and Shirak (42 %).
The other day at the session of the Shirak province council, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan noted that in case of presence of additional means the priority of the gasification process will be given to these 4 provinces.
Large-scaled works on the gasification of 4 communities of Shirak province were implemented in 2009, funded by the International Fund for the Development of Armenian Agriculture and OPEC Fund for International Development.
Twenty six rural communities of the province were connected to the natural gas network within the frameworks of the program. Gas pipelines of middle pressure were applied, and currently the gasification works of separate apartments are in process.
Gasification works of the villages of Arevshat, Geghanist, Mets Mantash, Pokr Mantash and Lernakert have started by the second round of the program.
