On that very purpose within the frameworks of the community development program of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) one of the historical buildings of Gyumri will be reconstructed and handed to the Armenian Culture Ministry.

Acting Chairperson of “Community Development Program” Babken Babayan told Armenpress that the planning works have been already accomplished; a contest on the selection of an organization for implementing construction works will be soon announced. The construction works will start in spring. The cost of the program is 500 thousand Euros.

That old building is located at the address of Gyumri Achemyan 2, was built in 1895 and served as a treasury for the Russian Empire at that time. After the earthquake which reoccurred in 1988, Gyumri does not have a gallery. The financial support is extended by the Italian government.
