ASHTARAK, FEBRUARY 2, ARMENPRESS: The number of births in the Armenian province of Aragatsotn during the past year increased by 44, as compared with the results of the previous one. Health care and social affairs department of the governor’s office informed Armenpress that over 1406 infants were born in 2008 and 1449 ones- in 2009 in the region of Aragatsotn.
According to some statistics, the number of newborn infants tends to increase this year as well. From January 1 to 15 over 61 births were registered; as compared to the results of the previous year, the number of births increased by 10. As a matter of fact, the majority of newborns are boys this year. According to some specialists, investing the system of state certificate of birth assistance in 2008 had a good impact on the increase of the number of births. Projects of supplying medical centers with up-to-date equipments and good personnel played an important role as well.
In association with “NOVA” international charitable company, Health care and social affairs department of the governor’s office implemented works to raise the educational level of members of the obstetrics-gynecological profession and to train family doctors of the region. The medical establishments of the region were supplied with books about state assistance to mother and child care, social security of pregnant women and other issues.
