IJEVAN, DECEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS: “DigiTec on Wheels” exhibition-fair has been conducted the other day in Dilijan and Ijevan, which has raised a great interest among people interested in the development and prospect of the information and telecommunication technologies (ITT) of Tavush province. Hundreds of people were at the exhibition-fair of the both towns. Manufacturing and importing companies like the “Fine”, “De-Link”, “Open Championship of Armenian Robots” and “Orange” mobile phone operator were presented at the exhibition-fair in separate pavilions. Karen Vardanyan, executive director of “Union of Information Technology Enterprises”, the undertaker of the exhibition-fair, told Armenpress that the goal of the event is to promote the appliance of ITT in Armenian provinces, as well as the consumption of products and services of ICT companies and the extension of the market. This event is organized annually since 2005; only over this year it has had 12 thousand visitors. The province tour of “DigiTec on Wheels” kicked off December 21 from the town of Charentsavan, and then it continued in the towns of Hrazdan, Sevan and Dilijan and wrapped up in Ijevan. The results will be summed up, and a new exhibition-fair will be conducted since February of 2010 in 42 urban and rural communities. The Union of Information Technology Enterprises had sent an invitation on participating in the exhibition-fair to numerous companies, but not all of them took part. “I think in near future greater responses will be registered”, K. Vardanyan said. “Orange” mobile phone operator took part this time, but “VivaCell-MTS” has already expressed wish to participate in the next exhibition-fair. Everything also depends on the summing up of the results of the first round. According to him, Armenia takes the 114th place in regard to ICT appliance. The goal of this program is to assist people in applying and spreading the technologies. K. Vardanyan assured that the appliance of information technologies may be very useful in the sphere of agriculture. “If a farmer has an internet accessibility, he/she can be quickly well-informed on how to protect the harvest against the frostbite, how to sell the food-product and find a market, etc”, he said.
