GAVAR, DECEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS: The year of 2009 has been unprecedented in the whole economic history of Gegharkunik province with the volume of investments and the rates of the implemented work, Head of the Transport and Road-Construction Department of the working staff of Gegharkunik governor office Gevorg Khachatryan told Armenpress. According to him, 9 billion 500 million Drams have been invested this year in the road-construction of the province, which is as much as the index registered during the last 4 years together. The main investors have been the Armenian state budget, Asian Development Bank, The World Bank and the Armenian office of “Millennium Challenges” program. Roads of 88 km and of inter-state and republican significance, as well as two bridges, two breakdowns resulted from the increase of the Lake Sevan, the 2 km section of Lchashen of Sevan-Vardenis highway which is subjected to water coverage have been repaired in the province. Thousand temporary working places have been opened. Large investments in the road-construction of the province are expected to be made in 2010 as well.
