GYUMRI, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS: The commission set up for distributing apartments constructed by “Glendale Hills” organization with state financial support is currently carrying out its works in Gyumri. Contrary to the previous years, this year the apartment distribution process is being coordinated by Armenian Urban Development Ministry, under the head of the minister. Responsible authorities of the ministry, Shirak governor office and Gyumri municipality, as well as representatives of other public sectors are involved in the staff of the commission. Before 2003 the works on distributing apartments in the town were implemented by the municipality and after 2003 they are carried out by the governor office. Member of the commission Vahan Tumasyan noted at a meeting with journalists that the working team of the commission has invited 1200 beneficiaries from the queue-list of homelessness on purpose of submitting relevant documents, 500 homeless people queued for one and two-room apartments, and 200 homeless – for three-room apartments. The documents submitted by the applicants are being thoroughly examined by Armenian Urban Development Ministry. The families which do not correspond to all the conditions for being considered homeless are being deprived of the right of receiving an apartment. Eighteen cases for receiving an apartment have been conformed with the last November 28 decree of the commission. After passing a double examination, they will take part in the lottery of apartments. Currently the documents submitted by 64 applicants are in examination process.
