DAY OF SLAVONIC LETTERS MARKED IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, MAY 26, ARMENPRESS:The Armenian Association of Cultural Relations with Foreign Counties (AOKS) hosted an event today to mark the Day of Slavonic Alphabet. This feast is marked in Bulgaria on May 24 as the Day of Slavonic Scripts, Enlightening, Culture and Media. Professor Eduard Grigorian, chairman of the Armenian-Bulgarian Association, said this day has been marked in Armenia for 49 years already. “This day is another occasion for us to once again appreciate the heritage of people who invented Slavonic letters,” Eduard Grigorian said. Bulgarian ambassador to Armenia, Teodor Staikov, said this events make centuries-long Armenian-Bulgarian friendship stronger. He expressed hope that cultural ties between Armenia and Bulgaria will continue to develop and become stronger. The students of Yerevan Bryusov Linguistic University sang songs and recited poems in Bulgarian.
