ISRAEL CONSIDERS JOINING NATO

1 minute read

YEREVAN, JANUARY 23, ARMENPRESS:The burgeoning Iranian nuclear threat to Israel has strategists in the Jewish state wrestling over the pros and cons of trying to get Israel to join NATO. This is according to an report in The Jerusalem Post Tuesday. Some experts say such an alliance is desirable as it would automatically mean that Iran is not standing only against Israel but against all NATO member states. Others warn that Israel will tie its hands if it signs up. Israel has not been invited to join, though a number of European political figures are urging it to do so. Meanwhile the National Security Council is drafting a proposal on joining NATO which will be submitted to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert by the end of February.
