An exhibition entitled “Floral Meteorites from Armenia” has opened at Kourd Gallery in Athens, marking the first presentation of Armenian artist Sarko Meené’s work in Greece. Armenia’s Embassy in Greece said Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan attended the opening of the exhibition, organised with the embassy’s support.

The ambassador congratulated the artist and exhibition coordinator Eleni Varopoulou, and thanked gallery director Haik Kourdoglanian for bringing the initiative to fruition.

Mkrtchyan discussed the connections between some of Meené’s paintings and Greek mythology and philosophy. He highlighted the artist’s desire to establish ties with Greece, where her grandfather was born.

The ambassador stressed the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening Armenian–Greek friendship, noting that such initiatives enable peoples to get to know one another, exchange ideas and forge new links for cooperation.

“Floral Meteorites from Armenia” will remain open until 10 December.

The embassy also announced that the “Ancient Armenia” exhibition is scheduled to open at the Acropolis Museum in Athens on 20 November and run until March 2027.

It will feature around 200 archaeological exhibits, tracing Armenia’s cultural development from prehistoric times to the emergence of Christianity in the fourth century AD. The exhibition will also explore Armenia’s historical ties with the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus, Crete, Rhodes and Samos.
