The Armenian government reallocated 1.174 billion drams ($3.23 million) within the state budget to fulfill contractual and financial obligations related to various sections of the North-South Road Corridor.
Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan said at the Cabinet meeting that the funds will be used for several purposes, including payment of 5% of the final construction costs, payment for technical supervision services, compensation to owners of land recognized as being of overriding public interest, reimbursement of project management costs, reconstruction of the M-6 interstate road, reconstruction of the Pushkin Tunnel, and design work for the construction of the new Dilijan Tunnel.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the Ashtarak-Gyumri section of the North-South Road has already been commissioned and that the decision will provide for payments for the completed construction work.
“I am glad to note that construction of the Kajaran-Agarak section is progressing at a very good pace. Work on the Kajaran Tunnel is also progressing well, and given the logic of regional and international developments, the implementation of these projects is very timely and appropriate,” the prime minister said.
