Ukraine receives missiles for Patriot systems, AIM missiles and Crotale systems

Ukraine has received additional missiles for US-made Patriot air defence systems, French Crotale missile systems and US-made AIM missiles. In addition, partners will provide targeted support packages for Ukrainian regions, the energy system and drone production, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a meeting with Estonian President Alar Karis in Kyiv.

According to Zelensky, important agreements on protecting Ukraine’s airspace were reached during the Coalition of the Willing summit in Kyiv on August 24.

“We have received confirmation of the transfer of several Crotale air defence systems and missiles for them. I will not say from which country. We have also received AIM missiles. These are very important missiles for us; we use them to shoot down enemy missiles,” RBC-Ukraine quoted Zelensky as saying.

The Ukrainian president also confirmed the receipt of an additional batch of ammunition for US-made Patriot air defence systems.

“And, frankly, I will not say from which country either, but several more missiles for Patriot have arrived. I cannot say how many, but several. We need more,” Zelensky said.

RBC-Ukraine noted that, in addition to strengthening air defence, Kyiv’s partners announced new support packages for specific regions and sectors of the economy following the summit.

“We have received support from Belgium and Denmark for the Mykolaiv direction. Estonia is supporting Zhytomyr,” Zelensky said.

According to him, members of the Coalition of the Willing also supported several projects related to veterans, while Belgium and Germany separately announced energy support packages for Ukraine. Sweden, Zelensky said, is also providing a significant funding package for Ukrainian drone production.

In addition, on August 24, the British government authorised defence company MBDA to declassify information on components of the British-French Storm Shadow/SCALP long-range missiles, allowing them to be manufactured in Ukraine itself.
