Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has reiterated the “historic” outcome of the June 7 parliamentary elections, saying that it redefines the functional significance of the Republic of Armenia.
“On June 7, 2026, the people of the Republic of Armenia voted in favor of the ideology of ‘Real Armenia.’ The outcome of these elections is historic because it redefines the functional significance of the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan said while presenting the government program in parliament.
According to him, the ideology of “Real Armenia” records that the sole functional significance of the Republic of Armenia is to ensure peace, freedom, security and well-being for its citizens within its internationally recognized territory of 29,743 square kilometers, to create an environment and ecosystem for the happiness of its citizens, and to preserve and develop the identity of the people.
“It is precisely in favor of such a state and vision that the citizens of the Republic of Armenia voted on June 7, 2026, and it is this vision that we call the Fourth Republic,” the prime minister said.
According to Pashinyan, the formation of the Fourth Republic is already a fact.
“We can state that the Fourth Republic has been established; it is a reality,” he said.
Last year, Prime Minister Pashinyan, in an address to the nation, unveiled the “Real Armenia” doctrine, a proposed plan for political and economic transformation.
Pashinyan has since said that the “Real Armenia” doctrine made peace with Azerbaijan possible.
The term “Fourth Republic” refers to the fact that the current Armenian state is colloquially known as the Third Republic of Armenia, as the successor to Soviet Armenia, which in turn followed the short-lived First Republic of Armenia (1918-1920).
