Syrian authorities have voluntarily granted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) access to a nuclear site in Deir ez-Zor province in the north-east of the country.
According to TASS, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani made the announcement at a joint press conference with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
“After more than 18 years, Syria has, on its own initiative and by sovereign decision, obtained the right of access to the Deir ez-Zor site,” the foreign minister said.
