Tehran responds to Trump post depicting Strait of Hormuz as new US territory

US President Donald Trump published a map on his Truth Social platform showing the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, with the Strait of Hormuz depicted as new US territory.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi responded to Trump’s post, saying the US president was mistaken and that Iran would soon correct him.

Gharibabadi also drew attention to the fact that Trump had referred to the Persian Gulf rather than the Arabian Gulf in his post.

According to the Iranian official, Trump had “correctly written the name of the eternal Persian Gulf”.

“Soon, his mistake regarding the Strait of Hormuz will either be corrected, or we will correct the delusions of this man who lives in illusions,” Gharibabadi wrote on X.
