UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said London would continue supporting Saudi Arabia in countering the Houthis, stressing the importance of protecting civilians.
According to the UK government’s website, Burnham made the remarks in a speech to the House of Commons on 12 October.
“I condemn the horrific attacks on King Khalid International Airport. We will continue to support Saudi Arabia in countering the Houthis,” he said.
Burnham said he had discussed the situation in the Middle East during a meeting with US President Donald Trump and confirmed the British decision to send air defence assets and a Voyager aircraft to Saudi Arabia.
The aircraft is intended to support the refuelling of other aircraft in flight. According to the prime minister, it has already carried out 14 operational missions. He stressed that this support was necessary to protect civilians.
