Armenia is in an active working phase of its visa liberalization dialogue with the European Union, Acting Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan said on Friday.
In May this year, the Armenian side received the first progress report on the implementation of the Action Plan, which assessed Armenia’s steps in this direction quite positively.
“The European Union has presented us with 53 recommendations, which, for the purposes of our internal work, we divided into specific actions. We detailed these recommendations, outlining the steps we need to implement to fulfill them. Accordingly, we developed 117 actions. More than half have already been completed, and by the end of the year we will have much more positive results. The recommendations concern the first phase of the visa liberalization action plan, which relates solely to the development of legislation and policies,” Ghazaryan said at a press conference.
He expressed hope that the implementation of the first phase could be fully reviewed at the beginning of next year or during the first half of the year, leading to positive progress in the visa liberalization dialogue with the EU.
