Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said on Tuesday that she will participate in the WHO Ministerial Conference on Advancing Health Security Through Earthquake Emergency Management, to be held on July 1–2, 2026, in Istanbul, Türkiye.
“It is a ministerial conference for health professionals, and I will also be participating. Bilateral meetings are possible, but there is no fixed agenda at this stage,” she said at a press briefing.
According to Avanesyan, Armenia is currently in the assessment phase for establishing Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) and is expected to receive the relevant certification from the World Health Organization (WHO) in the near future.
“If Armenia successfully completes the assessment process, it will have highly certified emergency medical teams that will be ready to provide services both within Armenia and abroad in the event of emergencies, if needed,” she added.
