Israel has launched air attacks on southern Lebanon a day after the United States and Iran signed an interim agreement calling for an end to their conflict on all fronts, including Lebanon.
The Times of Israel, citing the IDF, reported that overnight strikes targeted Hezbollah “terrorists and infrastructure” in several areas of southern Lebanon. The report added that the attacks were carried out in response to repeated ceasefire violations by the Iran-backed group.
Lebanon’s state-run news agency reported that at least 16 people were killed in the Israeli airstrikes. The figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
The agency described the overnight bombardment as one of the most intense attacks carried out by Israel. It reported that numerous residential homes were targeted.
