The Romanian Foreign Ministry has welcomed the successful conduct of the Armenian parliamentary elections.

In a statement on X, Romania’s Foreign Ministry also emphasized that Armenia’s elections were held in conditions of democratic competition, which, as it described, allowed for broad discussions on Armenia’s development path.

“This is even more relevant given that Armenia has been subjected to intense external campaigns of information manipulation and influence. This phenomenon has become a common reality for all electoral processes in recent years, and the successful protection of democratic processes and institutions is important not only in Armenia, but also at the regional level,” the statement said.

Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that the election outcome in Armenia reflects the “maturity of a young but vibrant democracy.”

“The citizens of Armenia have clearly expressed their choice for peace, stability, prosperity, and the continuation of a strategic path toward closer ties with Europe. The nearly 59% voter turnout reaffirms the deep civic commitment of Armenian society, as well as public support for the reform agenda and regional integration,” the statement said.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry also congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on reaffirming institutional stability in the country.

“We congratulate Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory recorded in the elections and express our full readiness to strengthen relations between Romania and Armenia across various sectors. This readiness has been repeatedly confirmed by Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Țoiu during her meetings with her Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

Romania is deeply interested in peace, security, and stability in the South Caucasus, so that the region’s impressive potential can be fully realized. We support all efforts aimed at achieving this goal, both within the framework of bilateral relations with the states of the region and as a member state of the European Union,” the Romanian Foreign Ministry concluded.

Preliminary vote count results showed that Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party will have a majority in the next parliament with 727,160 votes, or 49.825%.
