Bahrain bans citizens from travelling to Iran, Iraq

Bahrain announced on Tuesday that its citizens would be banned from travelling to Iran and Iraq until further notice.

According to a press statement by the Bahraini Interior Ministry, the decision was made in light of the ongoing tensions and the current security situation, as well as Iranian attacks.

The ministry said that necessary legal measures would be taken against violators.

Since the United States and Israel launched military strikes against Iran in February, triggering retaliatory actions by Tehran, tensions across the region have continued to escalate and spread, affecting countries including Iraq and the Gulf states. A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation.

Middle Eastern media report that, during the active phase of military operations between Iran and the United States, American military facilities located in Bahrain were significantly damaged as a result of Iranian counterstrikes.
