BTA: Northern Black Sea Coast Ready for Summer Season, Tourism Minister Says

All mayors along Bulgaria’s Northern Black Sea coast are prepared for the upcoming tourist season, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov said on Friday following a working meeting dedicated to the 2026 summer tourism season in Bulgaria. The meeting was hosted by Varna Regional Governor Mario Smarkov, and brought together mayors from municipalities in the Varna and Dobrich regions, as well as regional representatives of various institutions.

According to Dimitrov, security measures have been strengthened, and both the Varna Region and the Dobrich Region remain destinations where safe tourism can be practiced.

The Minister said that data from the Regional Health Inspectorates show that all beaches currently have excellent water quality. He added that an additional interactive map will be developed, allowing users to check water cleanliness indicators at any time.

Dimitrov said active work is also underway to improve overall cleanliness and to ensure the presence of police officers from various countries who will be temporarily deployed to Bulgaria during the tourist season. In addition, medical personnel will also be assigned in order to strengthen healthcare coverage in tourist areas.

The Minister voiced optimism about the upcoming season, noting that based on data available to local mayors, expectations are for a summer season comparable to 2025’s, with hopes for a successful and enjoyable summer tourism period.
