Deputy FM, IFRC Official discuss needs of Armenian refugees displaced from Karabakh

Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abishogomyan received Xavier Castellanos Mosquera, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), on 27 April.

Abishogomyan commended the IFRC’s ongoing programmes in Armenia, underscoring the importance of the humanitarian assistance and development initiatives the organisation has been carrying out in the country. The two officials discussed efforts to address the long-term needs of Armenian refugees displaced from Karabakh, with particular emphasis on ensuring the full realisation of their social and economic rights.

They also touched on the importance of actively involving displaced communities in matters of social, cultural and economic development.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the evolving situation in the Middle East and the humanitarian challenges it may present.
