Forty-one Armenian citizens contacted the Armenian Embassy in Doha after the start of military operations in the region, and the embassy has remained in constant contact with them, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said Saturday.
The 41 are transit passengers.
Of those passengers, 38 had been traveling via Qatar Airways, which has provided them with accommodation and food, the ministry said.
Two of the citizens required medication, and the necessary assistance was provided by the Armenian Embassy in Doha.
The Foreign Ministry also said that on March 6 the embassy organized a meeting with all Armenian citizens remaining in Doha to assess their needs.
In addition to the transit passengers, three more Armenian citizens are currently in Qatar, and possible return options are also being considered for them.
A flight from Doha to Yerevan is currently included in Qatar Airways’ schedule for March 9, according to the ministry.
The U.S. and Israel launched what they described as a pre-emptive strike against Iran on February 28, claiming that Tehran was developing a nuclear weapon and posing a threat—an allegation Iran has denied. In response, Iran launched counterattacks, firing missiles and drones at Israel, as well as at U.S. assets and other targets across the Middle East, bringing air travel to a halt.
