Qatar Airways announces limited relief flights from Muscat and Riyadh

Qatar Airways said Thursday that flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace, and that they will resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening.

The carrier said in a statement on X it will start operating a limited number relief flights to support passengers who are stranded due to the current situation across the region.

“Qatar Airways will start operating a limited number relief flights from 05 March to support passengers who are stranded due to the current situation across the region. The following services are planned: Flights from Muscat to: London Heathrow, Berlin, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome, and Amsterdam: Flight from Riyadh to Frankfurt. Passengers are kindly requested not to proceed to the airport unless they have received an official notification from Qatar Airways for these flights. Qatar Airways will contact affected passengers directly with their assigned flight details, travel arrangements and next steps,” the carrier said in a statement.

The U.S. and Israel launched what they described as a pre-emptive strike against Iran on February 28, claiming that Tehran was developing a nuclear weapon and posing a threat—an allegation Iran has denied. In response, Iran launched counterattacks, firing missiles and drones at Israel, as well as at U.S. assets and other targets across the Middle East, triggering airspace closures and flight cancellations.
