EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration to visit Armenia

EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, will visit Armenia, the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a press release.

Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, held a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, to discuss partnership.

Sargsyan lauded the close cooperation with the European Union, emphasizing the implementation of joint projects and the concrete results achieved in specific areas, according to the readout. 

The minister outlined Armenia’s efforts toward visa liberalization and reaffirmed the commitment to continue pursuing the planned steps consistently.

Referring to Armenia’s partnership with EU agencies Frontex and Europol, Minister Sargsyan stressed the importance of appointing a liaison officer to Europol as a step to strengthen cooperation.

Ambassador Maragos thanked the minister for the effective collaboration, highlighting the visible results achieved through joint efforts.

Measures to combat illegal drug trafficking and opportunities to expand cooperation were also discussed.

The meeting addressed details of the upcoming visit of EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, to Armenia, which is expected to mark the beginning of a new phase of cooperation.
