After providing biometric passports in Armenia, it is planned that contactless crossings should operate at the airport and at all border crossing points, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said during the Parliament-Cabinet Q&A.
Referring to border management, he said: "I have set a task for the government that from the moment biometric passports begin to operate in Armenia, which we expect in the fall of 2027, contactless crossings should operate at our airport and at all points. In other words, citizens with biometric passports should be able to board, exit, or cross the border without contact.”
According to him, for this, the United States, which possesses these technologies, should share them with Armenia. The previous day, the Prime Minister discussed this topic with the US Vice President.
According to Pashinyan, the American side has emphasized its support in border management, and it is about providing technical means. These are cutting-edged, precise and cost-effective means.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that Armenia will have them by the end of the year.
