Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced that by the end of 2030, construction work on almost all major sections of the Georgian highway—from the Turkish border to the borders with Azerbaijan and Armenia—will be completed.
Speaking on PosTV, the Georgian PM said that his government strives to maximize the country’s strategic position and, for this purpose, is developing its transport infrastructure.
“We strive to maximize our country’s strategic position, and one of our goals is the development of transport infrastructure and transit functions,” Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister noted that major investments are being made in this sector. “According to our program, by the end of 2030, almost all major sections of the road leading from the Turkish border to the borders with Azerbaijan and Armenia will be completed,” he added.
According to the Sputnik Georgia news agency, the government plans, under the 2026 budget, to fully complete the construction of the Rustavi–Red Bridge and Algeti–Sadakhlo sections, which lead to the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the construction of the Batumi–Sarpi road, which leads to the Turkish border.
