Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan met with executives from over 30 tourism businesses during his visit to Tavush Province.
During the meeting, Armenia’s 2026–2030 Tourism Development Strategic Program was presented. According to a press release from the Ministry of Economy, this serves as a guiding document for the formulation and implementation of state policy in the tourism sector over the next five years.
State policy in the tourism sector is aimed at creating a sustainable and high-quality tourism industry that will contribute to improving the population’s standard of living, while positioning Armenia in the global market as a favorable, attractive, sustainable, responsible, and universally accessible tourism destination.
One of the priorities outlined in the strategy is to increase Armenia’s international competitiveness and raise the annual spending of international tourists to USD 3.8 billion, nearly doubling the 2024 results.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister answered questions from the participants.
The meeting was attended by Lusine Gevorgyan, Chair of the Tourism Committee, as well as the mayors of local towns.
