Armenian envoy presents regional developments at UNSC open debate

Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the UN, Paruyr Hovhannisyan,  participated and made a statement at the UN Security Council Open Debate on The Promotion and Strengthening of the Rule of Law in the Maintenance of International Peace and Security.

According to a press release issued by the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN, in his remarks Ambassador Hovhannisyan reflected on the proliferation of situations endangering international peace and security, emerging humanitarian crises, grave violations of human rights, deepening inequalities and a staggering lack of trust engulfing global affairs, highlighting that Armenia has consistently supported international legal mechanisms to prevent violations of international law and to ensure accountability and access to justice.

Paruyr Hovhannisyan also presented the recent developments in the South Caucasus, the agreements reached on August 8 last year, the results of the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on January 13 in Washington D.C., where they signed the Armenia-U.S. TRIPP Implementation Framework document, which underscores the importance of sovereignty, territorial integrity, national jurisdiction and reciprocity to the overall success of the TRIPP project and its ultimate objective of institutionalization of peace in the region of South Caucasus.
