Regular political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Italy were held in Rome, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Edmondo Cirielli, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a readout.
The parties discussed the positive dynamics of bilateral relations in recent years, emphasizing the important role of high-level contacts in promoting constructive political dialogue and further strengthening and expanding economic cooperation.
A wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda was addressed. The sides underscored the importance of implementing joint steps in several areas, including increasing bilateral trade turnover, promoting investment and developing cooperation in high technologies, tourism, education, culture, and other fields.
The discussions also covered issues regarding the strategic agenda of the Armenia–EU partnership, as well as preparations for the 8th Summit of the European Political Community and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be held in Armenia in 2026.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kostanyan briefed his counterpart on developments in the South Caucasus after August 8, 2025. He also referred to the adoption of the Armenia–US Implementation Framework for the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, agreed during the meeting between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on January 13 of this year.
