Pashinyan hails peace agenda as Azerbaijani fuel imports cut gasoline prices in Armenia

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday lauded the results of the peace agenda, noting that imports of Azerbaijani petroleum products have led to a drop in gasoline and diesel prices in Armenia.

“Premium-grade gasoline has mainly been imported from Azerbaijan, and as of today, the minimum price of premium gasoline in Armenia has decreased by 15 percent, dropping from 510 drams to 430 drams per liter,” he said on social media.

“Two days ago, diesel fuel was also imported from Azerbaijan to Armenia, and during this period the minimum price of diesel has decreased by 2 percent. The price of regular-grade gasoline has also declined—by approximately 8 percent compared to December. That is, if on December 11 the minimum price of regular gasoline was 500 drams, it is now 460 drams. All of this is part of the peace agenda and the results and benefits of peace,” Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan added that the concerns and criticism voiced in both Armenia and Azerbaijan are inappropriate.

“In Armenia, some say you are buying gasoline and sending money to Azerbaijan so that they can use it to attack Armenia. In Azerbaijan, they say you are sending gasoline and diesel fuel to Armenia so that they can refuel tanks and military equipment and attack Azerbaijan. It must be stated that neither concern is valid, because peace has been established between Azerbaijan and Armenia. That peace will gradually become more and more institutionalized, and these concerns simply have no basis,” the prime minister emphasized.

He also noted that such misperceptions, at least in Armenia, are being provoked and encouraged by companies and groups that, with the support of their foreign partners, have held a monopoly in the fuel market for many years.

“They will now be forced to lower prices, which I assume will hurt those monopolies that will, in fact and definitively, disappear—something that will benefit the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. This is peace, and we must learn to live in peace and also learn to engage with the benefits of peace, which, I am pleased to note, the Republic of Armenia is doing,” Pashinyan concluded.

The first Azerbaijani fuel shipment to Armenia—over 1,200 tons of A-95 gasoline—arrived in December 2025. A second shipment, consisting of 1,000 tons of A-92 gasoline, 1,000 tons of diesel fuel, and 1,800 tons of A-95 gasoline, was reported to be en route on January 7, 2026.
