The Government of Armenia approved at a Cabinet meeting the 2026–2030 Strategic Program for Tourism Development and the Action Plan to implement the program, which aim to improve the country’s infrastructure and raise the level of tourism.
Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated that the need to develop the strategic program arises from the necessity of providing comprehensive solutions to existing issues.
“The goal of the program is to improve all tourism-related infrastructure and raise the overall level of tourism in Armenia. This will allow us, within five years, to attract more tourists and create a broader and more diversified market. To achieve this, it is essential to position Armenia as a tourism crossroads, because we see its potential to become an attractive, high-quality, safe, and peaceful tourist destination,” Papoyan said.
According to the minister, the three main types of strategic development outlined in the program are cultural tourism, gastronomy, and adventure tourism, including winter tourism. Papoyan also noted that Armenia has significant potential for developing agro-tourism.
