‘A lot can be decided before New Year,’ Zelenskyy says, announces meeting with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he will soon meet U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the peace plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.

In a post on X, the Ukrainian leader said that the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov briefed him on his latest talks with the U.S.

“Rustem Umerov reported on his latest contacts with the American side. We are not losing a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump in the near future. A lot can be decided before the New Year. Glory to Ukraine!” Zelensky said on X.

On December 20 and 21, the American side held separate talks in Florida with the Ukrainian and Russian delegations. Trilateral talks also took place with the participation of European officials. U.S. President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff described the negotiations as constructive and effective.

On December 24, Zelensky disclosed the 20-point draft peace plan.
